At least, that's what the newscasters are saying.
In other words, we're okay. The hurricane brought us some rain (with days and days of rain still to come) and some pretty high wind gusts, but the house is still standing, the windows are all intact, and the water is all outside. Yay!
We did lose power last night. When it first went dark, we figured it was the beginning of several days without electricity. However, the lights came back on within seconds, and have stayed on ever since. Best of all, I still have Internet! My priorities are whacked! Yay again!
The kids slept blissfully through everything, and even hubby and I spent the night in our own bed (upstairs - we risked the tree-through-the-roof scenario, heh). We didn't sleep as blissfully as the kids, though, so I figure we'll need a nap later. Naps are always good.
Now my greatest wish is that gas stations will be refilled quickly, grocery stores will reopen shortly, and restaurants will start serving again ASAP. I am so very tired of cooking. I know, I know, whine whine whine. Sorry. I know I should be thankful for what I have, and I AM! Believe me. But the selfish little girl in me just wants some Chinese takeout. Is that so wrong?
Well, we're alive and dry and what's left of our frozen foods are not going bad. Life is good. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. They mean so much.
